Red Hat has started beta testing the product Red Hat Software Collections, allowing the use of a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and the development of new technology components of web-stack without waiting for the next branch RHEL and installing third-party packages from unofficial external sources.

Red Hat Software Collections 1.0 includes packages with more recent versions of programs than are part of the regular RHEL. For example, to install the proposed Ruby 1.9.3, Rails 3.2.8, Python 2.7, Python 3.3, PHP 5.4, Perl 5.16.3, node.js 0.10, MariaDB 5.5, MySQL 5.5 and PostgreSQL 9.2. MATE 1.6 desktop environment

After eight months of development release is available desktop environment MATE 1.6, in which the continued development of the code base GNOME 2.32 with preservation of the classical concept of the formation of the desktop.

OpenSUSEAfter six months of development before release Linux-distro openSUSE 12.3. Available as a 32 – and 64-bit x86-based systems in the four assemblies: Universal Installation DVD (4.7 GB), Live with GNOME 3.6, Live with KDE 4.10 and a shorter version for network installation.

For the first time in the regular release of openSUSE comes stable build for ARMv7, experimental assembly for ARM64 (AArch64) and Specialized Live-assembly for recovery.
