Dell company will no longer produce smartphones. This was at a conference Dell World, which took place in Texas from 11 to 13 December, the vice-president Jeff Clarke, writes Computerworld UK.
Instead focus on the Dell smartphone release tablets and touch screen computer running Windows 8. The operating system is already using tablets and laptops Latitude XPS, which are manufactured by the company.
Dell will be present in the smartphone market not as a producer of “hardware”, but as a provider of software solutions for corporate use, said Clark.
The company in the past has released several devices on the platform Android: smartphone Aero (2010), Streak 5 (2010), and the Venue (2011), the tablet Streak 7 (2011), as well as the Office for Windows Phone 7 – Venue Pro (2010). In the first half of the 2000s, Dell Axim PDA offered based on Windows Mobile.
Dell Streak devices have become one of the first “smartfonoplanshetov” – devices with larger screens and phone modules. They appeared a year earlier Galaxy Note, which is now the most popular device in this category.
