When you make a potential customer feel like they need to act now or else they will miss out, they are much more likely to convert. This sales tactic has been proven to work so you should take advantage of it like all of your competitors are likely doing. Regularly send out emails regarding promotions which are ending soon (be careful not to spam TOO much though), display a timer on your website for the sales that you are doing and use social media to broadcast sale deadlines. You don’t even necessarily need to do a sale, just saying that in order to get a product delivered before Christmas the order needs to be made within the next 48 hours can already help convert a higher amount of prospects.

Create Product Bundles

This is a sales tactic that you should probably be using all year round, but if you aren’t selling any discounted product bundles yet, this is the time to start. If you only sell one product, you can partner with a company that makes related products.

Coupons

Giving coupons to people after they check out will increase the likelihood that they will think of your site when they realize they need to buy some more gifts. You can also give out coupons through email or social media. Make the coupon expire before the end of the year to create urgency.

Make Shipping Free

If you’re not offering free shipping yet, there’s no better time to start. You’ll take a small hit on every product that you sell, but you’ll likely increase your sales more than enough to make up for that. Since so many big online retailers now offer free shipping, people have become very reluctant to pay for shipping.

An increasingly large amount of people use their smartphones for shopping. Even if they’re just browsing, you need to make sure that your website looks great and is easy to navigate on mobile devices. Make sure that your checkout works flawlessly as well. Time is precious for most people these days so if you offer a suboptimal mobile experience, people will just go to your competitor’s site.
